Highlights of this cruise:
Singapore is an island-state in Southeast Asia. Singapore City is by far the largest and most significant island alongside 63 others that make up Singapore state. Located at the mouth of the Singapore River, it is a modern, affluent city and the world's busiest port.
A blend of the ancient and modern can be seen from the gleaming skyscrapers to Chinese and Hindu temples. Combining a lush tropical climate, with tasty food, good shopping and a happening, vibrant nightlife scene, this Garden City makes a great stopover or springboard into the region.
Port Klang is a town and the main gateway by sea into Malaysia. Colonially known as Port Swettenham, it is also the location of the largest and busiest port in the country. It is located about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southwest of the town of Klang, and 38 kilometres (24 mi) southwest of Kuala Lumpur.
There are no attractions at Port Klang itself, however most visitors travel on to Kuala Lampur or Klang Town.
Penang is an island off the northern part of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is also the name of the Malaysian state which is made up of Penang Island and the facing strip of territory on the mainland called Seberang Perai (formerly Province Wellesley).
Penang is one of Malaysia's main tourist draws with its rich multicultural history, full of colonial and Chinese influences. Its beaches are beautiful and there is a profusion of sites of worship of all different faiths.
Georgetown, the capital of Penang, is a favourite spot for tourists as it has lots of pre-war houses and is also one of the favourite spot for the locals as most of Penang's pubs are located there. Another favourite spot for both locals and tourists is Batu Ferringhi, located on the north coast, with white sandy beaches, luxurious hotels and restaurants.
Phuket is Thailand’s largest island located in Southern Thailand, on the west-facing Andaman sea coastline. It is one of Thailand’s most popular holiday destinations, with beautiful beaches, coves and bays.
One of the most popular tourist areas on Phuket is Patong Beach on the central western coast, perhaps owing to the easy access to its wide and long beach. Most of Phuket's nightlife and its cheap shopping is located in Patong, and the area has become increasingly developed. Other popular beaches are located south of Patong. In a counterclockwise direction these include Karon Beach, Kata Beach, Kata Noi Beach, and around the southern tip of the island, Nai Harn Beach and Rawai. To the north of Patong are Kamala Beach, Surin Beach and Bang Tao Beach.
There are many islands to the southeast, including Bon Island, just a short boat trip away. There are several coral islands to the south of Phuket, the Similan Islands lie to the north west, and Phi Phi Islands to the south east. Islanders engage in a lively tourist trade, catering to snorkellers and scuba divers.
Langkawi is an archipelago of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The largest island is Pulau Langkawi. Sheltered by the mountainous backbone of Peninsular Malaysia, Langkawi escapes the northeastern winter monsoon entirely and enjoys sunny skies in winter when the eastern provinces are flooded. Coupled with natural white sand beaches, lush jungle foliage and craggy mountain peaks.
Langkawi island is one of Malaysia's fastest-growing holiday destinations. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational facilities, duty-free shopping, alfresco dining as well as its Mediterraneanesque waterfront boardwalk at Awana Porto Malai.
