14 Night cruise departing from Dubai roundtrip onboard Oceana.

Oceana is a mid-sized cruise ship with a particularly stunning atrium that creates a real ‘wow’. Her bars, restaurants, shops and lounges have been designed to flow seamlessly through the ship and this makes for a sociable and informal atmosphere with P&O Cruises. Oceana’s bars are a feature... There is Magnums – a lively Champagne bar, Winners’ - the funky midships bar and the Yacht and Compass – a traditional English pub. Oceana also has a dedicated nightclub.

For dining, Oceana offers a choice when it comes to the main restaurants of both Club (fixed dining times) and Freedom dining (no fixed dining times). She also has several other restaurants to try; a bistro by Marco Pierre White and al fresco dining on deck at the Horizon Grill for great steaks and seafood.

Oceana cruise ship has broad decks with 4 sparkling pools and 6 whirlpools to enjoy during the day and even has a sports court ingeniously housed in her funnel. The gym and spa are well appointed and within easy reach, as is the golf simulator. Oceana’s welcoming and informal atmosphere makes her particularly popular with families.

Highlights of this cruise:

Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Known as the ‘Pearl of the Arabian Gulf’, Dubai is one of the seven emirates that comprises the United Arab Emirates. With a mix of traditional architecture and glittering modern buildings, Dubai is a place of fascinating contrasts that can best be described as the ‘Middle East meets Hong Kong with a little Las Vegas thrown in for style’. It is also the home of sand, sea and sun.

Abu Dhabi,United Arab Emirates
Before Abu Dhabi struck (black) gold with its rich oil reserves, it was at the centre of the pearl industry - you can see the traditional dhows used for both pearl diving and fishing along the harbour. The Heritage Village living museum offers a more in depth look at ancient cultures, while for an insight into today's way of life, head to Khalifa Park, a popular recreation landmark for residents and visitors.

Manama, Bahrain
Its intriguing exhibits are housed in an equally fascinating postmodern building, which seems to draw the water of the Persian Gulf right up to its windows. For other architectural and cultural wonders, head to the grand Al Fateh Mosque, Beit Al Quran, or any of the country's well preserved forts. If you love to shop you'll be pleased to hear that Bahrain is home to plenty of gleaming malls, but for a more unique experience stroll around the bustling alleyways of Manama Souq, entered via the historic Bab Al Bahrain building. You'll find everything from clothing and electronics to spices and a separate gold souk. While you're there, duck into a restaurant to sample a local delicacy such as Machboos - a delicious dish of chicken, mutton or fish with fragrant rice.

Sir Bani Yas, United Arab Emirates
Half of the 34 square-mile surface area is now covered by the Arabian Wildlife Park, a nature reserve home to lush vegetation and 13,000 animals indigenous to the Arabian Peninsula. Choose from dozens of outdoor adventures. Nature and wildlife safaris tour the beautiful landscape and take you up close to animals which are endangered in the region but protected here, such as the Arabian oryx and mountain gazelle, as well as predators including the Sudan cheetah. Watersports include guided kayaking through the mangrove forest, plus snorkeling and scuba diving experiences. For explorers, there are challenging (and easy!) mountain biking routes, or if you'd rather let someone else do the hard work, a culture and history tour reveals the intriguing heritage of Sir Bani Yas.

Khasab, Oman
Sometimes dubbed the 'Norway of Arabia' due to its fjord-like craggy inlets and mountain-lined coast, the region's terrain is dramatic and beautiful. And don't worry, the weather here is typical of its true location rather than Scandinavia! If you're feeling active, mountain safaris reveal breathtaking views across the region, while kayaking tours are a great way to see the magnificent coastline from a different perspective. You could relax on a dhow cruise instead, soaking up the sun and snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters off Telegraph Island. You may even spot dolphins if you're lucky. In the city, the well preserved 17th-century Khasab Fort and its inner museum offer a fascinating window into local history and culture. The Old Souk is nearby, but the New Souk is the bustling heart of modern Khasab and you'll find it about a mile away.

Muscat, Oman
It's also the meeting point of Asian, African and Arabic civilizations and this unique blend of cultures makes Oman a special place to visit and explore. The old port area, which is enclosed by gated walls, is where you will find the Sultan's Main Palace, a fascinating place to wander around. Two well-preserved 16th-century Portuguese forts, Al Jalali and Mirani, guard the entrance to Muscat, and the city walls contain the original beautifully carved gates. Muscat has many points of interest, so whether you want to explore natural freshwater pools, parks and nature reserves, shop in one of the many excellent souks, or relax on unspoilt, soft sandy beaches, this city has something for everyone.
