Highlights of this cruise:
Auckland is located on the north island of New Zealand, situated between two magnificent harbours, the Waitemata and the Manukau. It is the largest city in NZ and is often referred to as the ‘City of Sails’ due to the large number of yachts which travel in its waters.
Auckland city has a great range of shops including designer boutiques, markets and stalls. It is also home to many fine galleries and museums including the Auckland Museum and the Auckland City Art Gallery. Restaurants in the waterfront suburbs such as Mission Bay or St Heliers and the inner city specialise in local seafood delicacies. There are also a number of attractive public gardens and reserves surrounding the city.
The large Polynesian population in Auckalnd include Maori, Samoan, Cook Island and Tongan people whom all contribute to the city's vibrant culture. Local markets and churches in particular provide an insight to the local cultures.
Nouméa is the capital city of the French territory of New Caledonia. It is situated on a peninsula in the south of New Caledonia's main island, Grande Terre. It is one of the most westernized cities in the Pacific islands, and while the city itself is not attractive, there are some beautiful beaches on its outskirts.
Attractions in Nouméa include a stroll along the Place des Cocotiers, the local produce market and the Tjibaou Cultural Centre, located 20mins from the city. The focal point of the city is Coconut Park with its attractive colonial houses and beautiful hibiscus and bougainvilleas. The marina is worth a visit and there are attractive beaches at Anse Vata, Baie des Citrons and at Pointe Magnin.
Lautoka is the second largest city of Fiji. It is in the west of the island of Viti Levu, 24 kilometers north of Nadi, and is capital of the Western Division of Fiji. It is a quiet, shady town of broad avenues, shady sidewalks and towering royal palms which run down the middle of Vitogo Parade, the main drag running from the harbor to the heart of town.
Hilo is the Big Island’s county seat and largest city yet it has maintained all the ambience of an old-fashioned small town.
Downtown Hilo includes a popular farmer’s market as well as the Lyman Mission House Museum and Pacific Tsunami Museum. Other Hilo attractions include Big Island Candies, Panaewa Rain Forest Zoo, the Suisan Fish Market & Auction and Nani Mau Gardens.
Each spring, Hilo is also the setting for the Merrie Monarch Festival, the most prestigious and highly anticipated hula competition in the world.
Hilo might be Hawaii’s "small town" city, and that suits its residents just fine. The natural surroundings here are beautiful, but the strongest attraction in Hilo is its people. This is a very friendly community with a wonderful small town atmosphere.
San Francisco is a bustling cosmopolitan city in California, surrounded by water on three sides. It is a spectacular city, with many world-famous steep hills offering incredible views of the Bay and is full of major attractions and landmarks.
San Francisco is often classed as one of the top tourist destinations in the world with top attractions such as the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz island - which was once the most notorious prison in the world, Pier 39 on Fisherman's Wharf - a lively bay area with numerous shops, arcades, seafood restaurants, cafés, fairground rides, ocean views and its own colony of sea lions, Lombard Street - probably the world's most bendy street, and the famous San Francisco cable cars, which provide cheap and easy access to the whole of San Francisco.
