19 Night Cruise sailing from Palau to Shanghai aboard Bremen.
NOTE: Please note that your choosen cruise is conducted in German only. All printed matters are available in German. Nevertheless our crew is fluent in English.
A premiere expedition beyond the horizon: once again, the BREMEN demonstrates its pioneering spirit as it sets sail for exotic paradises and foreign cultures – an adventure that will make you feel just like Robinson Crusoe.
Highlights of this cruise:
Do you love the extraordinary? Let the BREMEN take you to explore seldom-visited island worlds between Micronesia and China that will set your pulse racing. A route that has plenty of secrets to reveal and dream destinations to marvel at. The “floating gardens” of Palau are the perfect start to your cruise. The ship will stay here overnight so that you can relax and settle in.
The BREMEN will then visit a special, unspoilt region: Yap, where life is still very much shaped by old traditions and the lush natural landscape. On a scenic journey around Yap, learn more about its stone coins, which are up to 4 m (13 ft) tall, or take a kayak tour through the mangroves to explore an undisturbed ecosystem.
A new destination for the BREMEN is Ngulu Atoll – nine seldom-visited coral islands, of which just one is inhabited. What discoveries will you make there? The Philippines is made up of around 7,000 islands. Here, the crew on board are driven by your curiosity as you explore beautiful natural surroundings and cultural secrets. Bucas Grande Island offers an initial, heavenly glimpse of the idyllic destinations that await you. You will explore its beaches and sea caves with the Zodiacs.
Bucas Grande Island , Bohol, Capul , Sibuyan , Manila
A great range of experiences awaits you on Bohol. It is famous for its 1,000 or so small mountains that look like oversized molehills. Admire this geological marvel during an island tour including Chocolate Hills and Loboc River*. The excursion to the Abatan River and tarsiers* will lift the curtain on the jungle. Typical sampan boats take you to traditional villages, and with a little luck, you may spot tiny tarsiers. Your pioneering spirit will be further ignited as the BREMEN reaches two premiere destinations: Capul delights visitors with its palm-lined beach and its 16th-century Spanish fortress church. Sibuyan promises an authentic experience – look forward to the warm greeting typical of this region by the inhabitants. The megacity of Manila presents a striking contrast thanks to its spectacularly modern side. You will discover the beating heart of the capital, with its colonial heritage and its skyscrapers, when you explore Manila by jeepney*. Fancy sampling something extraordinary? Then enjoy some insights into Philippine cuisine*, such as the national dish adobo.
Let Batan Island whisk you away to a completely pristine world. This spot of earth hidden in the Philippine Sea might remind you of Ireland: rugged coastline and lush green hills, thatched stone houses and a white lighthouse. Taiwan then provides a complete contrast – with over 290 mountain peaks that make it look almost like Switzerland.
An impressive example is the Taroko Gorge* near Hualien. The turquoise Liwu River will provide some truly memorable experiences of nature, with its suspension bridges, tunnels and waterfalls.
Okinawa Islands/Japan (Ishigaki, Miyakojima)
You will experience the Okinawa Islands as a new land of smiles – for this is Japan as you have never seen it before. Snow-white beaches, rare animals, a foreign culture. And people here live longer than anywhere else in the world. Ishigaki, known for its bays and fine sandy beaches, reflects nature’s eternal beauty. In contrast, the neighbouring island of Iriomote, the “Galapagos of the East”, is characterised by subtropical rainforest. Discover it on a boat trip through the mangroves*. Accompanied by the sound of the sanshin and the creaking of carts pulled by water buffalo, Taketomi Island* provides insights into traditional village life, while on Miyakojima your island impressions* will be shaped by the local salt-harvesting industry.
From the mouth of the Yangtze River and up the Huangpu River, the BREMEN reaches modern China in Shanghai. During your final night on board, the city’s glittering skyline will add an extra touch of excitement to your varied and adventurous cruise.
